These cores are going to be a bit out of order construction log wise. I just want to document in pics the 5 main blocks of foam for each wing. The pics might be the left or right side… doesn’t matter.
Those pieces that had several joinings were done on different days mostly. There is a 4 hour minimum time between gluing a piece and I only had so many pins and clamps.
This is FC3 which is made up of LWG 10, 11 and 12 The LWG and RWG numbers are from the CnC guy who supplied the cores. There is a ‘map’ on his website. L and R are obviously left and right.
Hat pins work well for light joins. I used the fuselage clamping rods for the bigger joins. There is just a nut inlayed into bottom of scrap timber at the base and then butterfly nuts at the top for clamping.
This worked very well for getting a nice even pressure and having a lot of control in lining up the pieces. I only have 15mts working time to get the glue on and clamped so I would do a practice clamping first.
