Some years ago I bought a set of 5″ wheel pants for my flying Long-EZ. Over time a very skilled fellow builder made a set of molds from these as you can see in pic 1. We did a set together intending to be an improvement on the bought ones, we made them a bit lighter. Well I never put them on my plane and then someone else needed them for his Long-EZ.
I ended up making another set from the molds recently. Using different materials. They are three ply, the inner and outer being S glass, a little lighter than the regular BID used on the plane and the middle ply is Innegra as I used on the underside of the nose.
It’s a lot of work just to get this far. If you need a set better talk to the man with the molds, I’m done. The halves are roughly trimmed and the next step is to do some joins and see how we go.
