Today I finally sorted out those countersunk rivets mentioned earlier. Worth the trouble I’m sure.
The rest of the day was a series of more trial setups for the elevator that didn’t work out. Then I had an idea. I have the angle jig that came with the cores… what if I made three more of these the same size and used them to hold the canard and elevator? This way I could check the elevator angles the entire length of the canard.
A couple of hours later I was back to doing the trial setups and now it was easier to see when I had it all wrong. This thing was like trying to juggle jelly.
I gave up on the stick over the top for a temporary fitting and went to stuffing it down the side of the hinges to jam them in place. I had several goes without even using glue to see if I could get the elevator in range.
