Yesterday was 2 plies of BID on the bottom of the common sump top or ‘lid’. A few logs ago I was saying how it is tough to get a really nice layup on very slightly imperfect foam.
Well this top piece is still pristine and so the layup on this nice flat service is really really good. Pic 1 is the usual preparations. The piece is taped down, everything is clean and the glass is cut and tapped to size.
Pic 2 is after the layup and peel ply. No lumps or areas of tiny voids. Pic 3 after an edge clean up of a very well glassed piece.
I think in future I need to either hardshell or spend huge amounts of time getting the surface perfect as if I was doing a top coat. …or I could just live with the minor imperfections. Only you reading this would know 😉
