A simple but important step. Joining the FC4/FC5 leading edge section to the right wing.
Now the shear web has cured I removed all the peel ply and gave it a light sand. Then it was getting the front section blocks down and unwrapping from the UV protection I have on all the stored blue foam pieces.
I did try setting it up in the jig per plans but it just doesn’t fit together. Plan B was to use ocky straps, elastic rope if you like, to hold the top section in place while it will be glued with thick micro.
It was a little uneven so I sanded a small amount from the FC4/5 section just to reduce the gap. As it was I probably made the micro a little too thick anyway and it certainly filled the gaps nicely.
After spending a couple of hours ensuring I had a good test fit. I then spent an hour or so worrying about it… and finally did the job .
I’ve been checking the spar cap gaps for evenness every 15 minutes or so as it seems to be drifting slightly on the bed of micro. I’ll keep this up until it stops moving or the micro cures a little more. The heater is going making the cure time reasonable despite this being winter time.
Another step done and it looks a bit like a wing now!
