While working on this heater there was a lot of research in the background. The valve in pic 1 was after I rejected all the problems with making my own butterfly valve or using an old one I had from JZE that was removed for weight reduction. I found this one on the net.
Butterfly valves will always partly block the airflow and I wanted to prevent this as much as possible given I didn’t have a powerful RAM air source.
The valve in pic 1 is heavy and quite thick but it was a candidate because it allows 100% air flow. It was very stiff however which presented more problems. The item in pic 2 had an aluminum rail that looked good for my trap door idea at the pilots feet area. It was a couple of hours wandering around hardware stores looking for ideas.
Pic 3 is more pour foam. Yes I need to repair the pilot area floor as best I can.
