I kept thinking if the limit switch failed this nose lift could break the floor of the plane, after taking out the gear doors. I spent a while cutting into F22 and the floor area for a worst case situation.
Now if the limit switch failed the NG1 and wheel will still be pushing on F22 but at a point where things would not be broken. The gear will not retact this far under normal conditions, I just want to allow for it.
I’m still to finish this area and can see how I might get the nose to extend a bit futher by cutting into the nose lift case and moving the limit switch a little. It looks like I will be able to get the longerons at zero or better by moving the axles up 2,5″ from plans and extending the gear a touch extra.
This took a few days and it looks like I will be in range now and have that safely retract position up my sleeve. I’m thinking about NG1 covers and how I am going to do the nose box and seal the gear.
