Some more canopy work but I’m also progressing the fill and fair on the nose and sides.
The canopy lip is getting some attention now. I’m going for a soft rubber fill strip. I can’t seem to work out the magic some people do with lips and drains. I’ll go for a simple rubber seal and see how it works out in practice.
I’ve made three MDF dummy instrument panel blanks. Planning here is ongoing with yet another dummy panel that lives on my dinning room table.
The nose is getting the fill and fair treatment.
Its a good thing I’m going for a fish head here or my dimensions might be otherwise challenged. This has been an organic event bereft of proper planning and intent. I’ve been happy to see what develops.
One of many little things I often don’t document. The foam on the edge here was just a little short. I’ve added pour foam to get less than .1″ extra width in places. I just can’t help trying to do good work even when I don’t get there. I keep putting in the effort for the best ‘reasonably good’ result I can achieve.
The nose is getting closer.
Here I’m working on glassing the back edge of the canopy lip. The easiest way to do this was flox corners and then hang the glass rather than cutting a narrow strip. I’ll trim the clean excess tomorrow and wastage will be small.
With the canopy edge curing I could still do an outside fill ready for aligning the cowl to the canopy line tomorrow. I hope …perfectly.
