This step was to create a smooth transition from the inside of the tabs to the outside of the gear legs.
First step after the holes were drilled was to remove all traces of the plywood templates and to check that the gear tab tubes went through OK. I also noted the position of the tubes in reference to the center marker as shown in pic one. I noted how much tube stuck out of the ends, took measurements and noted them for later. At this point the tubes are removed and the markers with bondo cleaned off.
In pic 2 you can see I’ve made some dams in gaffer tape and then as in pic 3 plenty of flox was used to ensure I’d end up with nice transitions for the UND and BID layups to come. Peel ply over the flox keeps it in place while curing and helps get the surface smooth and its easy to get air out.
