After trimming up the main gear tabs next is to flox on AN970 wide area washers on the ends to help prevent the gear from slipping along the shaft when in service.
After preparing the area and floxing on the washers, just two at a time so they don’t fall off… I tried the BID on top but found it impossible to get the air out as the washer to tab step was a bit steep. BID needs curves to lay down. Rather than radius the washers I added some micro as in Pic 2. After it had cured making a smooth ramp was easy.
Two plies of BID on top which I made the length of the tab. They may act as an extra couple of plies of reinforcement for the gear as well not just holders for the washers. Its a theory.
