After reading the plans for both the GU and the Roncz, the lift tab inserts still go in the same place. I bought these premade from the Cozy Girrrls along with a bunch of other bits. All I had to do was mark it out and then with the dremel cut a slot as in pic one.
Pic two shows a reasonable fit. Pic three has a simple drilling jig which took quite some time. Mainly digging up some scrap aluminium I felt I could live without. The idea here is that we get repeatable holes. After the shear web is done we then need access to bolt on the lift tabs. The jig ensure the required holes are in the right place leading to the three nut plates.
I’ve marked the jigs and used screws so I can get it all off for the next layup without anything being in the way.
These nutplates are secured with dry micro on to foam. Its amazing to think that the six AN4 bolts hold the lift tab and canard to the fuselage and it all begins on a piece of foam you can dent with a finger nail.
