A couple of days work here to fit the bellhorn and get the surface ready for this layup. I used the pics from the right winglet to help set things up. Pic 1 shows the rudder bellhorn positioned.
The 8 plies of BID went down easily. Again I did the unusual step of a flox slurry instead of micro. I spent quite a while getting the first layup cleaned up and smooth and despite the glass to glass area being very small I wanted structural material in the spaces between layup 1 and the BID.
Pic 2 shows the BID down just before the Block ‘A’ went down. I did the layup on foil as usual when difficult curves are involved. I think it gives a better fiber to glass ratio when you can lay it out flat rather than adding resin in-situ.
Pic 3 has the block weighed in place for cure. Just a little micro oozed out so I think there are not any air voids, the block was a reasonable fit. The heater is on this being mid winter to maintain the 25-26C overnight so I can get into it tomorrow!
