Today started with cleaning up the A block then on to the rudder bellhorn.
As with the right side I went with 2 plies of BID below and above the floxed in bellhorn. I first laid out one two ply piece on foil, wetted that out and cut to size. I then prepared the bellhorn pocket making flox corners and noting the rudder cut line position.
Next the foiled glass as you see in pic 1. Once in place the foil is removed and the glass worked down and settled into shape. Next the bellhorn is floxed into position and then the remaining two ply of BID on foil for the top. After a little trimming and poking a small piece of blue foam is microed on top and then some gaffer to hold the whole thing down for the cure.
I used a few sticks and things to stop the bellhorn sliding in the gooey mess. While that was curing away in my nice warm room I set to work on the A block. You can see in pic 3 I’m getting there. The idea is to have a straight line over the corner and just a little curve at the edges for the glass.
Tomorrow I’ll make some filler blocks over the bellhorn area, tidy that all up, finish the A block contours and draw a few lines and prep work for the outside layup to come.
