Today I worked on the hinge screws with the first task being making room for the nuts on the inside of the canopy rail using the dremel.
I decided to make flox corners for the foam between the hinge points. This is how they looked after a clean up.
I felt two plies of BID between the hard points made sense and I had plenty of room above the hinges too. This allows the hinges to bed into the glass and I added some flox on the top so I’ll get a good bond along with the clamping pressure of the bolts and nuts.
It was a lot harder than I expected to just bolt on the hinges. Those locking nuts are pretty tight and I was worried about shanking the screws too. While I have a bit of thread showing I think I’m OK and I’ve leftΒ it to cure for a quick trim tomorrow and then on to seal up the last part of the canopy rail.
