This prep started last night when I spent quite a while removing the two support timbers from the inside winglet area. Now the outside is cured these can finally go. I chiseled and ground very carefully. No winglet was harmed despite the floxed 5 mt structure.
Drawing lines was challenging for some reason for this inside layup. In the end I had some 12″ wide cutting boards as in pic 1 and once I used these I could see exactly where the UNI plies would have to go. Nice.
Pic 2 shows the lines done again centered over the 12″ inside structural layup. I’ve added 1″ to the UNI lengths to get it nicely round the corner. Probably unnecessary but it seemed to flow better this way. I cut the foils and tested them for a fit as a kind of practice. Then the BID pieces and UNI all ready to go.
I’ve also prepped the inside surface very carefully removing all traces of 5mt glue and given the area a sand. I’ll do the same just before the layup too. I might angle the winglet on the bench. It may help the vertical part to sit better. OK ready for the layup…
