Today was cleaning up the cured work of the underside layup. A bit of sanding, the peel ply edges cleaned up and a light sand of the surface. You can see below I’ve gone well around the leading edge with the previous layup. I marked out where I wanted to begin the next plies as you can see in the pic. From over an inch into the glass I’ll go back to the trailing edge.
This trailing edge needed to go down to the glass. This is the same technique used on the ailerons and rudders. A glass to glass edge will be really strong and I can just add a little filler on top as required.
The pic below shows my layup with the foil sill attached. I usually don’t get this shot and yes I have epoxy on my iPhone camera now …again…
Here’s the layup all done. A bit of peel ply where the join is. The TE is getting the stick and clamp treatment again. If I don’t do this you can bet the glass will have gaps and we want that nice flat join.
