Now for the top securing screws for this front console. I soon found that my prepared 1 x 1″ mounts were too wide for the rear support due to the window indent position. It needed a shorter leg to fit. I made up a set with a longer base so the gluing area was retained. Such a small detail that took a few hours to sort out.
With the parts made, I then alodined them and once dry added the nut plates. Lots of release tape and then the flox to secure these to the fuselage wall. This time I could use screws on the three bottom holes while the wet flox was used for the two top pieces on each side.
Pic 3 shows I’ve added a ‘clamp’ to ensure the consoles sit flush in position while curing.
I may need additional brackets in the top centers but I’ll wait until the windows are in so there is no interference in those layups. They may not be needed in the end. Everything is about less weight.
Removable console hardware is K1000-8 nutplates, MS24693-S52 countersunk machine screws and 1.7mm aluminium brackets which were alodined and floxed in place.
