My next chosen task was setting up the ailerons and the stick.
Issues here are that the engine mount is in the way and that I need to work out the full range of movement and ensure that we don’t hit that aluminium angle at full right deflection. This means I have to be mindful of where the bearing goes. This of course is limited by the incursion onto the back seat/passenger position. Nobody wants a control rod in their back.
After a LOT of fiddling I made a hole to fit the roller bearing that seats the aileron bellcrank.
Here I’m about to cut the tubes to length. I went to a LOT of trouble to fit and refit to ensure I had it right. I don’t have a lot of spare control tube on hand. Which isn’t the whole reason, I’m just cautious cutting things to length and I want to get it right.
Finally cut and in position. I’m using the wood and hot glue to position the bearing while I flox it in place.
Here it is on the hell hole side.
This is full defection, so I have no problems with interference. You might notice I have riveted the rods as well. This was probably a days work just getting perfect holes in the middle of the tubes and of course double checking rod lengths and so on.
