I did the prep and the layup in one day… it took about 11 hours or so but I’ve split the log into two entries and called it 10 hours total. I know I’m underestimating…I don’t want to know how much I’m spending either. Its a simple philosophy, I buy what I need when its within my current budget and I spend time as needed or as it is available. Once something is either bought or done, its in the past and I live in the present so its all good.
Prep was blending the TE layup onto the tube and making a minimum .3″ area at the TE for a glass to glass bond. It took a while but no biggie.
Then I had a think about the top layup and used 5mt glue and placed the tubes just over the edge of the table as in pic 3. This is so the top layup can overlap the bottom skin by a minimum of .5″ per plans. The plans diagrams don’t show this but I don’t see how else to do this layup. Maybe I’m improving. Of course I used lots of grey tape as this makes it pretty easy later and the elevator is 5mt’ed to the tape as well just to hold it still and flat.
Love my dremel
