Manual Reference: Roncz B sheet |
This was full time over a couple of days, probably 20 plus hours. The first slot took the longest after I had checked and recheck the positions with the elevators in place. Hours of fun too getting the hinge pins in and out and having a feel for what goes exactly where.
The jigs were handy for positioning things and if the elevator ends match the canard ends I had to be close. The slots took a while as I was pretty careful to not go through the top skin yet it seems like a good loose fit will give plenty of room for flox and setup jiggle room. I see no value in a tight fit for this part. How I was going to set all this up was still forming in my mind… lets say it is a bit of a suck it and see situation where the end result is all that matters, not an elegant method to arrive there.. I was determined to be 100% happy before I mixed flox and passed a point of no return.
In fact it was another two weeks solid of setup work before I mixed any epoxy to get those six hinges in place.
