This idea came from James Redmon’s excellent Berkut 13 build site.
The Long-EZ flies about 2.4 degrees nose up in cruise. A little flatter as you go faster. This indicator can give some feedback to the effects of CG changes as well as cruise, climb and descent angles. It’s also one of those low tech things like a wet compass that can help out if the electronic toys fail.
This curved spirit level is used by caravan owners and perfect for my purposes. Finally something cheap! I’ve modified one of them for the minimum footprint and a paint job to match the interior.
For the install I have leveled the longerons to zero.
Simple 5mt glue with some flox to thicken and it will stay put for sure.
A simple but useful mod. I’ll note bubble position for parallax once the seat cushions are done. The indicator is placed so I can see it in my scan without looking away from the panel. Done.
