Just a small job for a change. The canopy nose has a small gap between it and the top piece which needed filling in.
I added some gaffer tape through the front hatch to make a bottom to the fill. Rather than just using dry micro or even flox I thought I might as well make it a strong area and I used some left over spar cap UNI.
I did an hour or so careful work on the canopy surface to ensure no plastic residue. I knew this might be a minor issue when I put the canopy on but as planned there was enough of a gap to get in there.
I lined the gap with pure epoxy and then flox and added the UNI rovings wetted out on plastic. I just folded in as much as I could fit and then more flox and finally a bit of peel ply. I removed the protective tape to ensure none was trapped and I’ll add more tape after the cure to protect the canopy edges. There will be overflow on the bottom edge easily cleaned up when the canopy is off later. I should get a nice strong edge now where the canopy previously could flex easily.
