The canopy front edge was a bit of a mess. For starters it was a little out of shape and thin in some areas.
My first effort was to add some glass to the edges in the form of two ply of BID about an inch wide. I also added a few smaller plies in two spots where the lip seemed like it might be thin once I sanded it flat.
After cure you can see the ragged edges. However it will be a lot stronger now.
Here we are after a careful trim. I made a spline of some thin metal rods I have and redrew the curves. Then I’ve cut them out as you can see. Now I have a good curve at the front of the canopy and a bit of ‘meat’ in the layups.
Tonight I added some filler. Its not the final fill. I just want to see what I’m getting close and I like to see the profiles of the various pieces coming together.
HereΒ a little filler on the other side. Most of this gets sanded off of course. It’s a process.
