Prepping the bottom skin was done over many days. I again checked that it is as straight as I can make it and did do some really fine touch ups at the tips.
I went through the Cozy plans, given this is also a Roncz type and noted that they joggle the ends to receive the tip pieces. Good idea… so I did that too as you see in pic 1.
Unlike the plans it turns out that my roll of BID is wide enough so that I could cut two pieces instead of four to cover the canard. Nice to get the center crossover part clear in my mind too as its a bit unusual. You can see in pic 2 where I have some lines. The BID will cross here and miss the antenna leaving a bare section, or rather just 2 ply of UNI thick. This is in the nose so the unevenness is not a problem.
I might put a weighted bar where the trailing edge peel ply is to keep it level too. Last time I did something with stapled peel ply it was a little uneven after the cure.
Quite a few days doing minor fiddling has been needed for this prep. We do the layup tomorrow!
