Pic 1 shows how I’ve been working on both the ailerons at once. Now the second one has the hinge mounts in place. Pic 2 shows I’m filling with micro and I’ll hard shell the foam before finally putting the one ply of BID over the inside area.
While I know that the TE of the counterweight needs to be as smooth and round as possible, it may also be an idea to have the inside area also smooth. To that end I’m adding micro and then removing as much of it as possible (for weight reasons) and going for a nice interior.
I’ve done a couple of micro batches and one aileron is pretty close to where I want it. A few more days and then the inside skin layup will be done. I just need to prepare the surface as best I can for a smooth air/bubble free result.
