The last few weeks I’ve been working on the fill and fair between other jobs now the aeroplane fuselage is inverted.
With the strake edges filled for a datum while the wings were on, I just had to do a fill up to that point.
The bottom here is reasonably level. I still need to graduate slightly for the hellhole cover and fill all the joggles I made between the parts such as the landing brake and nose area. This is how things look before sanding. Its a process.
I’ll need to get the nose retract working again soon so I can make this area good. The idea is to do as much as I can while the plane is inverted. Really I need to be close to the undercoat stage here. Most of that filler you see here will be sanded off.
I thought the underside of the strakes were going to be straight forward. I was wrong. They are getting close now after way too many hours sanding to get the profile as good as I can make it.
It looks a long way from flying. That said, every day I work on the plane is progress towards that goal. I’m currently working everyday.
