The build order is an organic being with a mind of its own. It defies logic and makes its own agenda.
The ailerons need to be next for a fill and fair. I’ve decided to use the fact that the wings are on at the moment to set up the rudders and ailerons. Before I put the ailerons back on the wings it is obvious that now is the time to get them filled ready for the post cure that is to come later.
First up is a massive fill. I’m again using West epoxy and 410 filler these being the lightest and I have to say much easier to sand than micro.
Next up, surprise surprise… more sanding and more filling. My goal is to have the minimum filler without sanding through the first layer of glass. To have perfectly flat and even surfaces.
As the process continued areas to refill became smaller.
I was constantly checking across and along the surfaces for flatness.
Finally after around 10 days I am happy with the fill. Yes a minor tweak after the post cure for sure but enough for now to bolt the ailerons back on the wings and continue.
