This post is at the end of a long fix-em-up series of hot days.
This was a long round of fill, wait and then sand. After trying a few different things I’ve gone with a hacksaw blade to cut through the filler and make a good line. Its not perfect but not too bad at this stage. Each time I did a fill over a join I re-cut the line and tried to make it straight. See those low point marks just to the right of the picture and to the left . Yes I sorted all of those out. There were a lot!
The wing to strake join area has been a challenge to say the least. Its one curve going to another and it has taken quite a bit to get the levels just right and that intersection tidy.
Hey, its not too bad at that join now.
This long view is of a pretty straight filled and fared wing. The ellipse is the proposed shape of my side window. That job is getting closer. I’ve spent some hours on this too at the ‘design phase’ where cutting lots of bits of paper is better than regrets later. Do you like the shape for a window?
Another view of the stake to wing. I hope the air molecules approve.
Another look at the wing because this was a LOT of work. So I’m allowing myself some extra pictures.
Fine tuning can come after the post cure in case anything shrinks or shifts slightly. Oh yes and the canopy was not latched in the pic. I have more work to do there. Lets call this all good for now and move on.
