Yes another 11 days of the fill process. I did two paperwork days on the test flight procedures when the temperature was forecast at 42C. A couple of days on the winglets too. Today the thermometer was 37C at my workbench. I’m not built for sanding in the heat but thats what it was.
After a lot of work I called the wing bottoms good.
Next up was to get a team together to put on the wings again. I’m trying bolts out outboard and then to the spar to insert the bolt wing side. As usual I assembled my preferred tools. One bolt hole is pretty close to the top of the spar cap so I ground a bit off the top of my ratchet which helped a little. It took 90 minutes as I had some fitting to do too.
With the wings on I bought the pants from home and put them on too. I’m very unhappy with the work I’ve done on these. Its not nearly a good easy fit. Now they are back on I shall ponder some more on a fix.
My perfect matches were not so good really and the work on the top was not as good as I’d done on the bottoms. It seems the standard had gone up while the wings were face down.
Yes this was a quick hack away at the corner as they were not going on and I had a team waiting on me.
This corner is no good either. Lost of work coming to fix all this. See the next post…
At least it looks like a plane again.
