If you saw my post on the canopy problem, here’s the first stage of the solution.
On the left side of the canopy I’ve added micro and structural epoxy to fill in the gaps between the canopy and the fuselage.
Here it is after cure and the release tape worked. Yes I was able to open the canopy afterwards!
Here it is with a little sanding. I am amazed. It was only about 50 grams of epoxy and very stiff micro and I’ve filled quite a large area.
Even with just this first sand you can see I now have flush sides. Wow! Somehow my very long term plan of this canopy concept has worked. Wow.
On the right side I’ve used West Epoxy and 410 filler. It is lighter by around 40% I think than regular micro. On the hinge side I don’t need the maximum strength. On the left because I’ll be getting in and out that side…different story.
I did this filler on the right side in two stages. I really wanted to be able to open the canopy after cure, so a little caution was used.
Here’s the rigth side after a cure and a first sand. Yes wow again. The canopy appears to fit very well and I can still open it!
