The Wilhelmson Rotary Canopy Latch I’m using is attached with two screws to the upper longerons.
On my install its seems to flex a little. To make it more stable I’ve added a screw.
I found I had a type of click bond that had a stand off. I ground this down so that it could sit between the latch and the fuselage wall. Then I got to work making some dimples on the bonding side. It seems to me that a few minutes with a drill is going to give me a better ‘stick’.
Using West epoxy which is a bit thicker than my usual brew I added some flox and secured the fitting in place. As you see above I’m using a dowel and some wood to ensure the part is exactly where I want it for the cure.
After cure I’ve added two ply of BID. I know from my testing this is now ‘crazy strong’.
I won’t add a pic of the latch back in place. It just looks like the latch. There is nothing to see as the screw is hidden behind the moving part. Trust me, it was worth doing.
