I made the canard cover and nose top all in one piece some time ago. After cutting it out you’d think it would fit back again on the plane perfectly. You’d be wrong. Nothing seems to fit without a lot of fiddling in my world.
See.. it just doesn’t quite sit right anymore. This is after I built a lip underneath and reinstalled the canard. I’d like this to fit with a clunk, perfectly in place. If I can’t get that result I might just glue it to the canard.
Here I’m about to trim back the lip and worked then I worked for an hour or so finding where there is slight interference.
It seems like the front curve of the canard just touches the bottom of the cover. I’ve spent a while trimming back the glass and fitting and refitting. This is only at the front edge. The rear edge meets with the I.P. and canopy cover area. I’ll get to that when I am closer to building and installing the canard although now I have a better idea of what is happening here.
Ahh a perfect fit at the front. The sides are yet to be finalised due to the front piece not yet being in place. That’s OK I can patch the sides if needed later. I am very happy to have the front edge sitting correctly now.
This looks better now than it did this morning at that front canard cover join.
