This step took a full day and into the evening. I had to get the wheel pants off the bonnet which took a while. Next was to clean them up, trim them and ensure the pants still fit. All the clay and tape had to be removed while upside down which was the usual mix of sticks and dental probes..
Not so pretty eh?
I’ve trimmed them well away from the lines I initially drew. I’ll do a trim again after the fasteners are put in.
So pants back on and thats enough for now. There is still a lot of work to make these things fit. I’m very unhappy with the work here. I made the decision to try and go with lightweight pants and all my troubles began there. These very light pants do not hold shape at all well. They tend to flop around and really need fasteners to hold them in position.
I have literally spend weeks getting to this place and I really wonder if I should give up and just install the pants I had originally which do hold their shape properly. The weight penalty however is 2lbs 5 ozs so I may yet try to get these ones sitting correctly. At least I have a fall back position.
Now it is time to get the canopy on.
