Now that both sides of my support piece was glassed and cured I could cut them out to shape. Once done I checked it against the template jig pieces I’d made for shaping the seat bottom. As you see in pic 1 its a good match so I continued with the seat base jig.
Pic two shows the two support pieces with position lines drawn. I’d also spent a while sanding the floor area ready for gluing.
Pic 3 has the supports floxed in place. There are a reasonable fit with a little flox on the bottom. I’ll be using BID tapes after this initial join which are what will really make them strong.
I spent a while thinking if I should center the boards to the aircraft center-line or just offset to match the pilot seating and the unequal width consoles. I went for the slight offset as this is then the center of the pilot. After all in some planes that person sits all the way to the left hand side.
