The leading edge wing rib is the easier of the two ribs to do. The router makes quick work of clearing foam so a glass to glass join can be made at the edges. This job was over 4 days….
The three ply layup is relatively simple although the crossing UNI reinforcement straps are a challenge as they really have to change direction as they go over FC1. I’ll have to add just a little epoxy to a bubble at the hard point but not too bad overall. The method seems to be a sort of differential pulling of the fibers. I wetted out the UNI on foil then placed half on one side, peeled that foil, got it settled then went for the top of FC1. Sorted that then down the other side trying to pull fibers straight which left them at odd lengths at the end. I’d made the pieces well over the required length so I could cut them off cleanly and in line.
The last pic is after a clean up and of course the other wing on the wall 🙂
