Layup day and I was again fortunate to have both Michael and Darren on the job. Three of us made this one go a lot quicker …yet it was still a very long day. We have evolved pretty good technique for getting the fibers straight as you see in pic one. If you are reading this and wondering how …maybe email. I tried to write it in this log but its too long!
There is a bit to getting it wetted out nicely and with a good epoxy/glass ratio. I’m very happy with the results.
The last pic shows after we have peel plied the top of the spar cap. I then cover it in plastic a bit of high density foam and then weights. I’m not sure if this does much, its ‘due diligence’ really.
That it for wing spar caps, all four done. PHeeewww. The next biggie is the top wing skin and prep for that has already begun.
Nice straight fibers (before wetting out)
A great crew
Weighted for the cure
