You can see Michael in Pic 1 getting into careful detailing to ensure everything is correct. We kept checking edges and the cloth bias at every step.
It was another long layup and as usual the peel ply took a while. Its horrible stuff. There was an argument for just doing parts of the spar but no doubt I’d find myself sanding where I missed something.I’d rather take a little off the peel plied area than find myself into the weave of the cloth on such an important structural part.
I floxed on the four hard points per plans and put weight in place after we peel plied all around them. Despite lots of care I kept checking on them periodically as the cure began.
Sure enough the hardpoints crept .25″ or so and I was happy to have caught it and put them back in the correct place. Once cured there will be a bit of a clean up around the metal edges and maybe a bit more flox so I can get good transitions on the layups over the metal pieces to come.
Another big step on the spar completed. Thanks again Darren and Michael for the help. It is MUCH easier to get the cloth in the right place with a team on this sort of job.
