Today was a clean up of the bottom spar cap we did yesterday. The plans allow .04″ sanding and I already have one extra ply of .025″ as well so I was happy to get stuck into making things smooth enough for the coming shear web.
This just took all day and now the cap is smooth on top. The sides still need a bit more work. I’ll do the top cap first and then re-position for a careful tidy. I need to be careful not to touch the shear web in between the caps.
This sort of work requires a lot of attention to dedicated long sleeve shirts, double gloves and I even put a mask on for a while. Those fibers can really make you itch…and there is a lot of sanding before I’m done with this plane!
