The bottom spar cap layup took 3 of us 9 hours. …and a bit longer for me to prep and then clean up later. The room was pre heated to 26-27C and the epoxy in the hot box.
Our technique was to pull the threads from the center section after laying it down, then pull the cross threads. We then pulled the fibers straight. Then wetted it out.
Then we did a similar thing to the side pieces. We treated the layup as three sections in an effort to get the fibers as straight as we could. You can get an idea in pic one.
The top layup took 9.5 hours and 19 plies this was only 14 plies but still took 9 hours. I think we have improved the technique however the previous layup was still a good one.
Thanks to Darren Crompton and Michael Wood for fantastic help. It would not be possible to do work of this quality alone.
There is no compromise on the CS Spar and I feel good about what we have done.
