This looks like a simple bolt on and a bit of flox in the plans. I followed online advice from Dale Martin here on a more secure attachment method.
First up I needed to ensure that the wheel on the ground was going to sit at 0-5 degrees per plans. So which way is back and which way is forwards to ensure there is not a chattering problem when landing or during taxi/takeoff? I spent ages checking and rechecking online articles and pictures, then carefully measuring. I have it set at 3 degrees the correct way. Check out the pic with the plumb line and I’ll let you know after I get this thing flying if its OK.
Somehow I got lucky and the side to side measurements working out spot on too. I though the gear leg was a bit cocked to one side but the axle is 100% parallel to the ground with everything leveled so I have to go with that.
Now for the attachment. I made 4 divets in the casting as you see in pic 2. Then you do a four ply BID layup with release tape on the plate side and get your bolts in. Add lots of flox down the middle and there you are in Pic 3. You need flox around the bolt holes too.
Forward or back?
