Having done a nice job with these tubes and having the job all done I checked the fit on the fuselage, but this time with the canard. Ahhh what do you know? The tip of the tubes just touched where the canard goes by 0.2″. So either I hack into the structural area of the canard or do the tubes again a fraction deeper into the top.
Yes I decided to get on with it and remove the tubes and all that work. It took a day or so to get things ground out and quite a few days making the slots deeper and then the cascade of separate cures. It was a lot easier the second time around. I’m pretty sure I could build the whole plane to date in half the time too.
If you look at pics 1 and 2 they are similar to those of previous logs but the tubes are mostly flush with the bottom surface of the top piece. There is less micro so perhaps its even a little lighter. Enough to say it now fits.
Pic 3 is just for fun.
