Pic 1 just confirms today after even more careful sanding that I’m good to move on and the profile for the canard is ‘within range’.
I have to admit I’m struggling with understanding how to make the elevator and a part of that is to put the canard hard points in the right place. This is the next step in the top skin prep work.
I spent most of today looking at the GU plans, the Roncz plans, the Cozy canard plans and an addendum the Cozy Girls supplied me with to go with the offset MKNC12A parts and other peoples web sites.
I’m getting there. Given these bits are really for the Cozy I took a while to understand that the elevator push rod will attach per the Cozy plans NOT the Long-EZ and I think I can use the other side of this to drive the Auto pilot. After a while I’ve understood where my missing 13″ or so of joining tube is coming from too. AND it seems I have an idea now where to put the hard points as its just under 2″ different from plans on the inboard locations.
Matching up with the tube cut-outs is also helpful to ensure I understand this bit. I’m still woolly on the elevator but nearly ready to do the hardpoints. Just have to confirm how far forward from the TE they go. Nearly there on that detail. Then I can just make them! In a way, a well spent day despite little to show you here. Good things are more likely to happen if I understand what I’m doing!
