This is the main gear tabs, my second attempt. You can see in the first pic the tab is a reasonable thickness. However in the second pic you may notice that a couple of the tabs are a bit thin. I had used too much clamping pressure and I think some of the plies has slid to one side so I was not getting the correct number of plie in the layup.
I dithered for a while as this had taken a very long time to do. I have not included all the steps and photos as you saw the procedure on the first try.
Overall I thought maybe the UND layups were OK and I could just remove the BID and redo them This would be quite easy as no lining up would be required and only some of the glass would have to go. I consulted a few people but in the end its my build and I’m in charge of quality control.
I decided this was too important a structural step to have any doubts in my mind at all. So over a couple of days I again removed all that work for a second time and began again with a clean slate.
