With the inside glass cured, I glued the hinge to LB23 and ensured that the brake fitted the fuselage and was lined up just right with the center lines in the fuselage bottom and the top of the brake. It all looked good.
I started with 1/32 drill and went slowly drilled the 3 holes for the AN4 screws. At one point the 5mt epoxy failed so I just re-glued the brake, checked the fit and continued. It is only three holes but there are no second chances.
I went all the way through the drill sizes until at the correct drill size (for the tap) and then tapped out the holes carefully with the 1/4 X 28 tap. Then the front of the hinge only need to be drilled out for the shank of the screw. I had a 6.3mm drill I think it is for this (just under 1/4″). It all went well and I have a ‘lid on my box’ now.
The last pic shows that all this trouble getting things lined up will probably work out. There is a bit of dry micro yet to make it all fit like a glove.
